Coming Soon Scott McLeod and Doug Kellner

I recently had the pleasure of two conversations one with Doug Kellner, Chair of  the Professor of Philosophy of Education Department at UCLA and the other with Scott McLeod "Director of the UCEA Center for the Advanced Study of Technology Leadership in Education (CASTLE), the nation's only center dedicated to the technology needs of school administrators, and  co-creator of the very popular video, Did You Know? (Shift Happens) and the author of a very well followed website--Dangerously Irrelevant. " Both individuals are big thinkers and have lots of interesting ideas to add to our continuing conversation concerning what is term called "21st century Learning Skills"? 1. Doug Kellner's argument as to why media literacy is so critical for todays' students is compelling. He gives some terrific examples of how any teacher can and should incorporate some of the contemporary news stories into their classroom discussions and why we must help this generation of students to engage critically with the world. 2. Scott McLeod made several points about the challenge of professional development and leadership in ensuring that schools are really helping students to think critically and use technology effectively. Both podcasts will be uploaded shortly...
